This artist had to come out as a sex worker and an author at the same time

In order to release her memoir Modern Whore, author Andrea Werhun realized she’d need to first be honest about being a sex worker.

At the time she was writing her book, Werhun wasn’t yet open about her career as a sex worker, and initially wanted to keep things that way.

“I was still in the closet about my sex work, so it wasn't an easy decision to figure out in what form Modern Whore was inevitably going to take, because we had all sorts of ideas that could obscure my identity or obscure the factual nature of the narrative,” she says in a conversation with Q’s Tom Power.
