Ultra Violent, R-Rated Action Thriller On Netflix Is The Most Perfect Sequel

It’s rare that I watch a sequel and think, “this was so much better than the first one, I can’t wait until they make 10 more of these,” but credit where it’s due. After watching 2023’s The Wrath of Becky, a sequel to 2020’s Becky, I’m genuinely excited that another sequel is already in the works, officially pushing the series into franchise territory.

The Wrath of Becky is especially fun because it leans harder into comedy than its predecessor without undermining the original film’s charm. Lulu Wilson is so committed to her role as Becky that as long as she keeps bringing this energy to the table, I’ll keep tuning in for the rage-induced slaughter that only a scorned 18-year-old girl could convincingly deliver.

The Wrath of Becky is short, violent, and preposterous in all the best ways, and its 83-minute runtime keeps it from wearing out its welcome. The film gets straight to the point, wastes no time escalating, and never lets its foot off the gas.
