“Blue Eyed Girl” is a touching, female-driven coming-of-age story that follows a woman in her forties who is stuck in the mundane routine of family life. When her father falls ill, she returns home to take care of him, and in the process, she's forced to confront the complexities of her relationships with her sisters and an ex-high school boyfriend and grapple with the choices she's made in her life.
Marisa Coughlan, the screenwriter, draws from her personal experience to explore the phase in life when we're not quite old, but no longer young, when our personal storyline is mostly written. This story delves into the illusion of what could have been versus the reality of what is, forcing the protagonist to question her life choices and ultimately fall in love with her messy, wonderful reality.
""Blue Eyed Girl” tackles complex themes such as life, death, marriage, parenting, mental health, and dreaming big with a heartfelt, romantic dramedy touch. It's a poignant exploration of midlife crisis, told from a female perspective, and the universal experience of wondering if we've made the right choices in our lives.
